yellow (2)

I guess it's finally time for me to post day 30 (the last day, thank goodness) of 30 day song challenge. It was sort of fun in the beginning, but grew tiresome toward the end. Some memes just get too long to be amusing the whole way through.

Day 30 is my favorite song this time last year. Coincidentally, my favorite song last year is still my favorite song this year.

Yellow by Coldplay. I posted the live version for day 1; here is the studio recording for day 30.

"I wrote a song, I wrote a song for you, and it was called Yellow"

bye bye bye

Day 29 (next to last!) is a song from my childhood. I already used Two Pina Coladas in this countdown, and the other songs are really made up, so it would be hard to describe them here.

So this one's not really from, say, early childhood, but I was 12 when it came out, so I think it counts. Bye Bye Bye came out when my obsession with 'N Sync was at its peak. I knew all the dance moves in the video, and I still know all the words :)

"I don't want to be the loser and I've had enough"

for the first time

Another day off. Another day to finish this ridiculous meme. Day 28 is a song that makes me feel guilty. I think this one out of all of them makes you give out some of your most personal feelings. Saying what makes you sad, angry, or whatever is pretty shallow, but what causes you to feel guilt can really reveal something about you. It reveals a lot about what your priorities are and who and what you care about.

I chose the song First Time by The Script. I think a lot of times I don't do enough to work on my relationship and I get frustrated because I feel like there's not a lot I can do about it. I won't say a lot more. I'll just post the song.

"trying to make it work, but man, these times are hard"

moonlight sonata

This post is a little awkward as this song has no lyrics. Day 27 is a song I wish I could play. I chose Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven. It is my favorite song on piano, and one that I never learned to play, but wish I did. I took a formal piano class in college the semester before I started nursing school, but did not keep up my practicing near enough. I would like to start playing again if I get the chance.

freebird

Day 26 makes me glad I was a band kid! It's a song I can play on an instrument. I have quite a repertoire from years in the Razorback Marching Band, lol :)

I picked about the most cliche marching band tune outside of and Earth, Wind, and Fire song. Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

"if I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me?"

two pina coladas

On a much lighter note from the last post, day 25 is a song that makes me laugh!

Two Pina Coladas by Garth Brooks brings back so many happy memories from growing up with my cousins, singing this song, and having no idea what "setting sail with Captain Morgan" really meant. It's mostly that last bit that makes me laugh every time I hear this song!

Note - I could not find this on YouTube! What the heck?! This is some crappy version from Google Videos

"let's set sail with Captain Morgan, and never leave dry land"

ave maria

I'm nearing the end of 30 day song challenge now. I'm on day 24. Which is good, because at the end of long memes like this, I tend to get bored and want them to be done as soon as possible. But I can't just stop because I figure I've gone this far with it, I might as well complete it.

So day 24 is a song I'd like played at my funeral. Depressing, eh? The song I chose is Ave Maria. I think it is such a beautiful song. It's played at the end of the original version of Fantasia, and famously sung by so many people. I'll post a couple of videos on this one, if I find good ones.

Fantasia version:

Luciano Pavarotti

"Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen."

marry me

Back to 30 day song challenge: day 23 is a song I want to play at my wedding. For whatever reason, I have thought about songs to play at my wedding. I have no idea when I'll get married or what kind of wedding I'll be able to have (it sucks being poor), but there are songs I have in mind. They include Kingdom Come, Lovers in Japan, and Strawberry Swing all by Coldplay and Sound of Pulling Heaven Down by Blue October.

The song featured in this post however is Marry Me by Train. It's the latest addition to my wedding playlist. I love everything about this song.

"if I ever get the nerve to say hello in this cafe, say you will"

hate me

Day 22 is a song I listen to when I'm sad. I picked Hate Me by Blue October. I listen to them a lot when I'm sad. Their music seems to feel your depression. I don't have a lot to say about this one. I haven't listened to this song in quite a while.

"hate me so you can finally see what's good for you"

larger than life

30 day song challenge: day 21 - a song that you listen to when you're happy

I tend to get into boy band mood when I'm really happy. I could really listen to just about anything when I'm happy, but I like boy bands, country music, Justin Bieber and Lady GaGa when I'm particularly happy.

I picked Larger Than Life by the Backstreet Boys for this post. I could listen to this one on repeat several times and still like it, which if you know me, is saying quite a lot. I never put songs on repeat because I get so annoyed by hearing the same thing over and over again. Which is why I dislike so much rap and radio music.

"every time we're down, you can make it right"

fury

Day 20, which is where I'll stop today, is a song I listen to when I'm angry. I picked Fury by Muse. Aptly named, don't you think? It's a good and angry song to let out a little mental frustration with. And then I feel better! :)

"your self-loving soothes and softens the blows you've invented"

if you believe me

Day 19 on the countdown is a song from my favorite album. My favorite album would by Forget and Not Slow Down by Relient K. It is their most recent album and obviously my favorite. The song I am picking from it is "If You Believe Me." I love every song on this cd, so this is not to say it's my favorite one on there (that would be Savannah), but that all the songs are great, and here's an example!

"I fell in love and I wanted to say it was you"

starlight

This one is a bit more fun. Day 18 is a song I wished I heard on the radio. I chose Starlight by Muse. It is a more mainstream sounding song, so it fits on the radio, and it's by Muse which I love. I wish more people knew about Muse and listened to them and how great they are! I do love this song and all the others this band plays!

I am having trouble finding a video of this song where the embedding hasn't been blocked. Here's a YouTube link to a good live version of Muse at Wembley Stadium, though. Click it!

Edit:

Looks like someone posted a different live performance of the song that can be embedded! Yay!

"I just wanted to hold you in my arms"

rolling in the deep (2)

Speaking of bad music on the radio, day 17 is for a song I hear often on the radio. This is a short post, because I've already made a post about this song. It seems like every time I turn on the radio lately, I hear this God-awful song. I hate it so much, but it seems to haunt me. Of course, I'm talking about Rolling In the Deep by Adele. Ugh. Hate it.

"there's a fire starting in my soul"

where are we runnin'?

Day 16 is a song I used to like but now hate. I think in high school I went through a phase where I liked all bad pop music that was played on the radio. Now I only like some of it :) I'll keep Justin Bieber and 'N Sync, but I've since let go Destiny's Child, Christina Aguilera, Maroon 5, Lenny Kravitz and the like. For this post, I picked the song "Where Are We Runnin'?" by Lenny Kravitz. I have no idea why I liked that song, but it makes me cringe to hear pop up on iTunes now. I wonder if in ten years, I'll look back at what I listened to and have the same repulsion to what was on my iPhone playlists. Hope not. I really love Lady GaGa.

"we need some time to clear our heads"

bad kids

Day 15 is a song that describes you. Alright, so I thought that last post took some thinking.... This one really does. You know, in interviews, sometimes the interviewer will ask you to describe yourself in three words or a sentence, or something? I was always bad at that. Like, really bad. So here we go.

--

Found it. I think the new Lady GaGa album is my anthem. I picked Bad Kids off her newest cd, Born This Way. You know, now that I think of it, several of these songs could describe me. For instance, Born This Way and Hair. I love this cd. That's it.

"I'm not that cool and you hate me"

won't back down

Day 14 is a song no one would expect me to love. I had to think about that one, because I first have to think about what types of songs people would expect me to love, and pick a song not like that. That takes some deliberation!

I ended up picking "Won't Back Down" by Eminem featuring P!nk. I don't know if that's unexpected or not, but gangster rap is not an obvious musical preference of mine. To be honest, I don't like a lot of rap, but I do like Eminem quite a lot. I think he's one of the best rappers to have ever made music. His tracks have lyrics that are relevant, and beats/music that are varied and interesting to listen to. So there. My unexpected song.

Here's an interesting recut of the song for a Call Of Duty: Black Ops commercial.

"you can fence in your yard, you can hold all the cards, but I won't back down"

never say never

I couldn't think of a song for day 12: a song from a band you hate, because I don't generally remember songs by bands I hate. I block them out of mind. Maybe I'll get back to that one at some point.

My guilty pleasure music is Justin Bieber. I picked "Never Say Never" as my day 13 guilty pleasure song. I listen to JBiebs on the sly when I'm by myself, so no one will make fun of me. I guess you know my secret now. Don't tell. :P

"I will fight until forever to make it right"

every teardrop is a waterfall

Day 11 on the count is a song from my favorite band. My favorite band being Coldplay, I thought it appropriate to post their newest single that just came out this week called "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall." I can't wait for a new Coldplay album!

"I feel my heart start beating to my favourite song"

lullaby

Not surprisingly, the song I chose for day 10 - a song that makes you fall asleep, I chose Lullaby by Josh Groban. I looove Josh Groban. His voice is amazing.

"and all love through darkness, don't you ever stop believing"
